WHAT IS FANTYZO? -------------------------------------------------------------- Fantyzo is a FREE screenshot and screen recording tool, an alternative to Gyazo. * SCREENSHOT: drag a box around any part of your screen. Fantyzo uploads it to catbox.moe, copies the link to your clipboard, opens it in your browser, and adds it to your Fantyzo History. No copy is saved on your computer. * RECORDING: drag a box around any part of your screen and Fantyzo records it to an MP4 video file on your computer. Fantyzo lives in the system tray (bottom-right of the taskbar) as a small magnifying glass icon. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. SUPPORTED WINDOWS VERSIONS -------------------------------------------------------------- * Windows 11 (64-bit) * Windows 10 version 22H2 and Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (64-bit) Not supported: 32-bit Windows, Windows on ARM, and Windows 8.1 or older. -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. INSTALLATION -------------------------------------------------------------- You need the file: Fantyzo-Setup-1.8.1.exe Download it only from https://www.fantyzo.com or the Imagine Foundry store in Second Life. 1. Double-click Fantyzo-Setup-1.8.1.exe. 2. If your browser says the file "isn't commonly downloaded", choose Keep (in Edge: the ... menu > Keep). 3. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC": click "More info", then "Run anyway". This appears because Fantyzo is new and free; it does not mean anything is wrong. 4. Read and accept the License Agreement. 5. Choose your options: [x] Start Fantyzo automatically when I sign in [ ] Create a desktop shortcut Click Install, then Finish. Fantyzo installs for your Windows account only and does not need administrator rights. When Fantyzo starts, a notification lists the hotkeys, and the magnifying glass appears in the system tray. -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. CONFIGURATION -------------------------------------------------------------- 4a. HOTKEYS (built in - nothing to set up) Ctrl+Alt+S Take a screenshot Ctrl+Alt+R Start recording / stop recording Ctrl+Alt+H Open History The keys work anywhere while Fantyzo is running. If another program already uses one of them, Fantyzo tells you when it starts; use the tray menu for that action instead. 4b. KEEP THE TRAY ICON VISIBLE (recommended) Windows hides new tray icons. To show Fantyzo's icon: * Click the small ^ arrow at the right of the taskbar. * Drag the magnifying glass down onto the taskbar. 4c. START AUTOMATICALLY AT SIGN-IN Chosen during installation. To change it later: * Press Win+R, type shell:startup and press Enter. * Delete the "Fantyzo" shortcut there to stop autostart, or copy the Start Menu "Fantyzo" shortcut there to add it. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. USING FANTYZO -------------------------------------------------------------- 5a. TAKE A SCREENSHOT 1. Press Ctrl+Alt+S, OR left-click the magnifying glass, OR right-click it and choose "Screenshot region". 2. The screen freezes and darkens. Drag a box around the area you want. The size in pixels is shown as you drag. 3. Let go of the mouse button. Fantyzo uploads the image. 4. When done: - the link is copied to your clipboard (Ctrl+V to paste) - the image opens in a new browser tab - a "Link copied" notification appears - the link is added to Fantyzo History To cancel: press Esc or right-click. 5b. RECORD A VIDEO 1. Press Ctrl+Alt+R, OR right-click the magnifying glass and choose "Record region". 2. Drag a box around the area to record. 3. Recording starts at once. A red frame surrounds the area (the frame is NOT in the video) and the glass of the tray icon turns red. 4. To stop: press Ctrl+Alt+R again, OR left-click the tray icon, OR right-click it and choose "Stop recording". 5. A "Recording saved" notification shows the file path. Videos are 30 frames per second MP4 (H.264) and include the mouse pointer. No sound is recorded. 5c. HISTORY Press Ctrl+Alt+H, or right-click the magnifying glass and choose "History...". The window lists every uploaded screenshot link, newest first. Open - opens the selected link(s) in your browser. Ctrl-click or Shift-click to select several. Double-clicking a row also opens it. Clear - empties the History list (asks first). The images stay online at catbox.moe. Save - saves the list to a .txt or .csv file. 5d. TRAY MENU (right-click the magnifying glass) Screenshot region Record region / Stop recording Copy last link - copies the newest link again History... Open recordings folder User Manual - opens this manual License Agreement - opens the Fantyzo EULA Quit 5e. START MENU Start > Fantyzo starts Fantyzo. Start > Fantyzo User Manual opens this manual. -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. WHERE YOUR FILES ARE KEPT -------------------------------------------------------------- Recordings: your Videos folder, in Videos\Fantyzo named fantyzo_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.mp4 History: %APPDATA%\Fantyzo\history.json Screenshots: not saved on your computer; they are online at the catbox.moe links in your History. Program: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Fantyzo (or C:\Program Files\Fantyzo if installed for all users) Manual, EULA and license notices: the "docs" folder inside the program folder. Tip: paste a path such as %APPDATA%\Fantyzo into the File Explorer address bar and press Enter to open it. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. UPDATING AND UNINSTALLING -------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: run the new Fantyzo-Setup file. It closes Fantyzo, updates it, and keeps your History and recordings. UNINSTALL: Start > Settings > Apps > Fantyzo > Uninstall. Your recordings and History are NOT deleted. To delete the History as well, delete the folder %APPDATA%\Fantyzo -------------------------------------------------------------- 8. TROUBLESHOOTING -------------------------------------------------------------- "Windows protected your PC" when installing Click "More info", then "Run anyway" (see section 3). Windows Security / antivirus removed or blocked Fantyzo New programs are sometimes wrongly flagged. Make sure you downloaded Fantyzo from an official Imagine Foundry source, then open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history, select the Fantyzo item and choose Restore / Allow. Please also tell Imagine Foundry so the false alarm can be reported to Microsoft. "This app has been blocked" (Smart App Control, Windows 11) Smart App Control blocks new programs that Microsoft has not seen before. Contact Imagine Foundry for help. No magnifying glass in the tray * Click the ^ arrow on the taskbar (see section 4b). * Start Fantyzo from the Start Menu. A hotkey does nothing * Make sure Fantyzo is running (tray icon present). * Another program may use the same keys; Fantyzo shows a notice at start-up naming any key it could not use. "Upload failed" * Check your internet connection. * catbox.moe may be busy or down; try again later. "Recording failed" or the video shows the wrong area * Try a larger area. * With several monitors, record on one monitor at a time. * Please report the problem to Imagine Foundry with your Windows version and display scaling (Settings > System > Display > Scale). -------------------------------------------------------------- 9. PRIVACY NOTE -------------------------------------------------------------- Screenshots are uploaded ANONYMOUSLY to catbox.moe, a free public file host. Anyone who has a link can view that image, and anonymous uploads CANNOT be deleted afterwards. Do not capture passwords, personal details or anything private. Recordings never leave your computer. -------------------------------------------------------------- 10. LICENSE AGREEMENT -------------------------------------------------------------- Fantyzo is free. Its use is governed by the Fantyzo End User License and Usage Agreement (EULA), shown during installation. Read it any time: * right-click the magnifying glass > License Agreement, or * open docs\EULA.txt in the Fantyzo program folder.
