FAQ
Questions, answered.
A clear distinction between the free release you can download today and the private Cloud experience being built next.
Is Fantyzo still free?
Yes. The available Fantyzo 2.3.2 desktop release is free to download and use, with no ads or watermarks. Fantyzo Pro is the forthcoming paid option for private Fantyzo Cloud services; it is separate from the free desktop offering.
Do I need an account?
The free 2.3.2 release does not require a Fantyzo account. Fantyzo Pro and private Fantyzo Cloud use a Fantyzo account with a username, password, and a six-digit authenticator code.
Can I download Pro 2.4.0 now?
Version 2.4.0 is in development. The public download buttons currently provide 2.3.2. Pro pricing and general availability will be announced before purchase options are offered.
Where do screenshots go?
In the available 2.3.2 release, screenshots upload to Catbox, an independent public host, and anyone with the link can view them. The forthcoming Pro Cloud path saves screenshots to authenticated private storage. Check your version before capturing sensitive information.
Does a Cloud upload automatically share my screenshot?
No. Upload is not Share. A private Cloud object address is not a public sharing link. Public sharing is a separate, deliberate action; the public Share feature is still being developed for 2.4.0.
How much storage does Pro include?
The planned Fantyzo Pro service includes 10 GB of Fantyzo Cloud storage. Additional storage will be available as a paid add-on. Package sizes and prices will be published when finalized.
What happens if I exceed my quota?
Existing Cloud files are retained and new uploads are suspended until you free enough space or increase your allowance. Exceeding the quota does not by itself trigger deletion.
What happens if I cancel additional storage?
When the add-on ends, your allowance drops to the storage still included in your active plan. If your files exceed that allowance, uploads are suspended. Canceling an add-on does not by itself trigger file deletion.
What happens when my Pro entitlement ends?
A 30-day recovery grace period starts when your Pro entitlement ends. Use that period to recover or download your files, or restore Pro. After the grace period, remaining Cloud files become eligible for permanent deletion; this is not a promise of immediate deletion on day 31.
Does deleting History delete the online screenshot?
In 2.3.2, Delete or Clear removes local History entries and previews; it cannot delete anonymous Catbox uploads. For Cloud, a local History action and deletion from Cloud storage must be treated as separate operations. Use an explicit Cloud deletion control when that feature is available.
Where are recordings saved?
In the available desktop release, recordings are saved as MP4 files in the Fantyzo folder inside your Videos folder. They remain on your computer unless you choose to upload or share them. The 2.4.0 Cloud work currently focuses on screenshots.
Which operating systems are supported?
The available packages support Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit), Linux Mint 22.x, and Ubuntu 24.04 using an Xorg/X11 session. A macOS package is not currently offered.
Why does Windows show a download or SmartScreen warning?
An unfamiliar application can trigger a reputation warning. Confirm that the download came from fantyzo.com and compare its checksum with the published SHA256SUMS.txt before deciding whether to run it. A reputation warning alone does not establish that a file is safe or unsafe.
Can I use Fantyzo with Second Life?
Yes. Fantyzo captures your desktop independently of the viewer. The optional Fantyzo Digital Picture Frame is sold separately on the Second Life Marketplace. Sending a picture to a displayed frame is a deliberate display action and can make it visible to others.
Should I enter my Second Life password?
No. A Fantyzo account is separate from your Second Life account. Never provide your Second Life password or authenticator codes to Fantyzo support.
